CATEGORY 1 HURRICANE ARTHUR

On July 7th the NHC started monitoring a Area of interest near the Coast of Florida, the First Advisory had the system at a 20 % chance of Developing in 5 days as it moved northeast. Early on the Morning of the 8th, The chances were upped to 60 % as a LLC has formed in association with showers and thunderstorms further than expected.

On the 8 AM July 9th advisory the NHC designated the system as Potential Tropical Cyclone 01L near the Coast of Savannah, Georgia. At first the storm was expected to peak at 60 Mph as it head northeast at a fast rate of about 15 to 25 Mph.

In the Afternoon of the 9th, the NHC designated Arthur as a Tropical Storm with wind speeds of 45 Mph, and a pressure of 997 Millibars, A Tropical Storm Watch was issued for Bermuda aswell as the storm was expected to pass within 100 miles of the island.

On July 10th, Advisory 2 and 3 Were issued. Arthur strengthened to a 55 Mph Cyclone as Reconnaissance Aircraft found 50 not SFMR's with 55 Knot Flight Level winds. Into the Night, the NHC issued a Tropical storm Warning for Bermuda.

On July 11th, Arthur underwent a Semi-rapid strengthening to a 75 Mph Hurricane according to Satellite data, Bermuda was starting to feel Depression force winds Early that night, Not long after the NHC issued a Hurricane Watch for the Island of Bermuda as the Hurricane was now expected to pass within 75 miles of the island, Arthur is now forecast to become a 80 Mph hurricane.

On July 12th, Arthur passed Bermuda as a 85 Mph Hurricane, Strongest winds on the island were measured to be 55 Mph as the Center passed 70 Miles north of the Island, a Tropical Storm Watch was later issued that evening. Minimum Central Pressure was now near 981 Millibars via Aircraft reconnaissance mission into the storm near Bermuda.

On July 13th, Arthur reached its peak and weakened slightly from 90 Mph to 80 Mph, Vertical Wind shear of 30 knots was starting to affect the storm as well as cool SST's. Arthur is forecast to become a Remnant low by Midnight on the 14th by NHC cone graphic. The Lowest pressure was now recorded at 976 Millibars that day by Aircraft, This would be the Last mission into the Storm as it was moving very fast ENE at 22 Mph.

On July 14th, Arthur was now weakening Rapidly as it continued battling 35 Knot shear and Cold SST's along with Semi Dry air. Arthur was now undergoing a Extra tropical transition as a strong Tropical Storm. the UKMET office was preparing for a strong Gale storm between the dates of July 16th and July 17th from Arthur's core.

On July 15th, Arthur became a Extra-tropical storm with 65 Mph winds and a Pressure of 991 Millibars and was located 200 miles south of the Azores moving NE at 30 Mph, the UKMET office issued Gale Warnings for the Coast of Ireland for July 16th and the 17th.

UK and Ireland: Arthur became a strong gale Storm with strongest winds being 55 Mph and produced heavy rainfall in the area, Arthur would continue into Northern Russia were it would be a weak storm and a polar low. On July 19th, Arthurs remnants became Undetected as it had merged with many other systems in Northern Russia.
