The 1950 Atlantic Hurricane Season was the first season to use names, and was slightly below average. The strongest and most destructive storm was Hurricane Dog,
Hurricane Able[]
Tropical Depression 1 became Tropical Storm Able south of Florida. It became a category 1 hurricane, but weakened down to a tropical storm before hitting Mexico.
Hurricane Baker[]
Tropical Depression 2 became Tropical Storm Baker Southeast of Florida, and became a category 1 hurricane before impacting Texas.
Tropical Storm Charlie[]
Tropical Depression 3 became Tropical Storm Charlie Southeast of Florida. Charlie moved towards Florida and remained a tropical storm the entire length of the state before weakening.
Hurricane Dog[]
Tropical Depression 5 became Tropical Storm Dog just off of Africa. Originally tracked to impact the Caribbean as category 1, Dog took a turn towards the mainland United States, soon becoming a cat 1. Just northeast of the Caribbean Islands, it became a cat 2, then not too long after, intensifying into a cat 3. Southeast of Florida, it became a cat 4, and a cat 5 east of Florida. It made landfall as a cat 5 in the Carolinas, causing extensive death and damage.
Tropical Storm Easy[]
Tropical Depression 6 became Easy north of the Yucatan Peninsula before making landfall in northern Mexico.
Tropical Storm Fox[]
Fox impacted Cuba as a tropical storm and weakened back down to a depression before temporarily regaining strength. It impacted the Florida Keys at weakened to a depression before impacting Florida.
Hurricane George[]
Tropical Depression 10 became George south of Puerto Rico and then strengthened into a cat 1 hurricane south of Haiti before moving Southwest down to Mexico.
Tropical Storm How[]
How was only a tropical storm over Cuba.
Hurricane Item[]
Item remained in the open ocean during it's time. It only reached cat 2.
