Imelda was among one of the costliest storms on record, bringing about 62 billion dollars of damage, as being the sixth-costliest storm on record, behind Katrina, Harvey, Maria, Sandy and Irma. It devasted Cuba Haiti, Pureto Rico, Dominica and Florida, and making landfall in Florida as a Category 3 major hurricane, which bought severe damage to Florida and many other places affected by the storm.

Retirement[]
On April 4, 2020, at the 42nd session of the RA IV hurricane committee, the World Meteorological Organization retired the names Andrea and Imelda from its rotating name lists due to the amount of damage and deaths they caused, and they will not be used again for another Atlantic hurricane. They will be replaced with Ashley and Inga for the 2025 season, respectively.
