Seasonal Forecasts issued every year are usually to give an insight as to what may lay head of the Hurricane Season. Early forecasts are issued every December of the previous year to predict what may happen the following year. The forecasts are based on the ocean conditions at their current time and predict what they may be throughout the season as well as other weather patterns predicting the probability of activity for that year.

Pre-Seasonal Forecasts

On December 26th of 2019, the TSR released their first early forecast for the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season. The forecast called for 14 named storms, 6 hurricanes and 2 Major hurricanes, overall being Average to Slightly Above average season. This concludes as the ENSO phase was at it's neutral and warmer waters were noted across the Atlantic.

Storm Names

The following names are the names forecasted to be used throughout the Hurricane Season this year. This list was previously used in 2014 with the exception of Patina. Retired names, if any, will be announced by the WMO in the spring of 2021 during the 43 session of the meeting. Names not retired will be used again in 2026.

Seasonal effects

The table below lists all of the storms that have formed in the Hurricane season of 2020. They note storms for their intensity, landfall areas, deaths and damages as well as their duration of life-span. Note that damages will be listed in 2020 USD and that deaths are also counted for while the storm was Tropical, Subtropical, Extra-tropical, Post-tropical including indirect deaths (in parenthesis) but were still related to the storm.
