The 2022 hurricane season was about average in terms of number or named storms, but unusually, all of them became hurricanes. It featured 12 tropical depressions, 12 tropical storms, 12 hurricanes, and _ major hurricanes. The first of these, Alex, became the first hurricane ever recorded in April. This also resulted in the first recorded instance of consecutive hurricane seasons with a tropical cyclone forming in the month of April.
