Welcome to my first ever typhoon season! This "planned" season will have 17 storms, 10 that are Typhoons and 4 Super Typhoons. This season is a deadly and costly season. So here's the list of the storms that formed. This season is also the final year of PAGASA naming due to PAMA naming replacing PAGASA's naming system. (I had to discontinue due to my new season, 2000 Lockenham Hurricane Season.)
PAMA Storm Sat'lite[]
Pacific Asia Meteorological Agency Project Trackerz 00:00 Philippine Time (UTC+8:00) A low pressure area was detected around 300km+ of Extreme Northern Luzon with 40% chance of forming. A 60% chance of forming into a depression south of the low. Invest 8L formed expected to be a Tropical Storm.

Typhoon Gaemi (Aghon)[]
May 14 - May 27
Description of Gaemi[]
Gaemi is a typhoon that hit the Philippines. Its strength is 131mph max (210 km/h). The costs are $200 million (or 11.6 billon pesos.) It's pressure is 942 mbar. Typhoon Gaemi's page: (Click here!)
History of Gaemi[]
On May 13, 2022, PAGASA and JMA located a new low pressure area in the east of Philippines. JMA tracked the low pressure area and it had 100% storm formation. On May 14, JMA announced that Invest 1 has been formed. Just a day later the storm has been given its name, Gaemi. 2 days later it started doing Rapid intensification. The next day it entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and it has been given the name Aghon. After that It became a Typhoon (Category 3) just by 12:00 PST. 3 days later it strengthened into a Violent Typhoon (Category 4) where it stopped its intesification, PAGASA gave Signal No. 1 to all of the provinces in Luzon. 2 days later it barely intensified peaking at 131 mph. When it hit the Philippines PAGASA has added Signal No. 4 to the typhoon's path. A day later it is now in South China Sea, where a few days later the storm dissipates.
Severe Tropical Storm Prapiroon (Butchoy)[]
June 11 - June 20
Description of Prapiroon (Butchoy)[]
Prapiroon (Butchoy) is a Category 2 storm that hit Taiwan and Japan. It's max wind speeds are 105 mph (170 km/h). It's pressure is 951 mbar at Shikoku. It killed a person in Taiwan and the damage was $24 million. STS Prapiroon's Page: (Click here!)
History of Butchoy[]
On June 11, PAGASA detected a low pressure area forming, a few hours later it formed into a tropical storm. PAGASA gave the name Butchoy and JMA gave the name, Prapiroon to the storm. The next day it became a Category 1 and suspected to hit Taiwan. A day later before hitting Taiwan the storm strengthened into a Category 2. A person died and costs were $7 million. After hitting Taiwan it traveled for 4 days to the coast of Shikoku where it reached its peak of 105 mph. At the same day it hit Japan, where for the next two days it weakened into a tropical depression and becomes a cloud.
Tropical Depression 3W[]
Description of Invest 3W[]
Invest 3W is a very weird storm, as it killed 3k people as it is the most deadliest storm in the year and 3rd most deadliest in the Philippines. Here is the link to the storm: (Click here!)
History of Invest 3W[]
PAMA discovered a L on June 16, a day later it became a tropical depression. While SSHWS said that it was extratropical, PAMA saw that it had very high speeds for a storm. A day later it strengthed and it went to the Philippines and went past it and dissipated in the ocean. There was one death recorded by PAMA after the storm.
Reason of 3k deaths[]
After the storm a flood on the Angat Dam happened and made floods up to 5m high (1m in Manila) which killed 1.9k, the reasons where excessive rain. Angat Dam also experienced a malfunction where it was spewing out water more than before, making a flash flood. This is considered to be one of the worst malfunctions of Angat dam and the most deadliest. A week later after the floods an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5 happened in Abra, considered to be the mainshock of the foreshock in July 27, 2022. It killed 1,088 more and destroyed the Bantay Bell Tower.
Very Strong Tropical Storm Maria (Carina)[]
July 1 - July 11
Description of Maria[]
VSTS Maria is a very strong storm that changed China and destroyed Shanghai. The drop of economy of China was so low that the peak low was 319 yuan for 1 USD. Here is the page to the storm. (Click here!)
History of Maria[]
On June 30, (Which was Technoblade Day) China discovered a LPA located nearby Hongkong, The next day PAMA saw this and named it Maria, PAGASA, even though it was not in the PAR, named it Carina. The next 2 days it strengthened into a Tropical Storm, hitting Taiwan for 2 days. As it went to the sea, it strengthened, moving to a Category 2. Going to Shanghai, the residents evacuated as Non-Typhoon Warning was issued. A day later at the middle of hitting Shanghai, the buildings fell. Killing the people that were in and the ones on the houses in the impact. This was the 2nd most deadliest storm in the year (behind Invest 3W with 3k deaths) and changed china's geography as they lost land. USA, Japan and the Philippines gave some money for the fallen Shanghai. $1.1B to be exact. This became the costliest storm of the season. Maria (Carina) was retired as a storm name and its replacement was Marty (Cindy) for the 2028 season.
Tropical Storm Son-Tinh (Dindo)[]
July 13 - July 17
Description of Son-Tinh[]
Son-Tinh was a rare storm due to its incredibly high pressure as a tropical storm. It had almost Category 1 winds with 70 mph (110 km/h) winds. In its 70 mph wind speed it hit 1002 mbar just before weakening. Here is the link to the page: (Click here!)
History of Son-Tinh[]
PAMA detected a Low Pressure Area around the south of Japan, as it formed 6 hours later. 6 more hours later, PAMA discovered that it was a very high pressure storm. A day later it strengthened into a Tropical Storm, slowly peaking at 70 mph, it weakened for a few days until it became a Low. PAMA is still knowing how did it became a 70 mph low with 998 mbar pressure. This storm is not your average tropical storm, the average pressure of a tropical storm is around 985 mbar which low. But showing the fact that in its peak it only had 1002 mbar was very rare. This was added into the rare list of storms in the whole world.
Typhoon Ampil (Enteng)[]
July 23 - July 29
Description of Ampil[]
Typhoon Ampil is a hard hitting typhoon that hit China, Okinawa, Japan, Philippines (Clouds reached Batanes) and the hardest, Taiwan. This typhoon had a low pressure while hitting Taiwan with pressures up to 957 mbars as a Tropical Storm. This is the 3rd most deadliest storm (will change) in the whole season.
History of Ampil[]
Invest 04L was detected on the East of China, as it formed in the east of Okinawa. PAMA issued the first update showing that the track was going to the Philippines but it quickly changed as PAMA issued the second update the next day. The track was shown to be going to go to Japan as a Typhoon (Category 4 (SSHWS) | Category 3 (PAMA)) and the results were devastating. But 12 hours later it turns to the west. Before turning it strengthened into a Category 2 and 6 hours after that it became a Category 3 Typhoon. (TV Patrol segment of Weather Patrol) ABS-CBN Meteorolgist detects that it might be headed to Taiwan as PAMA said that it will turn to the south and affect Northern Philippines. But a few hours later it was close to Taiwan. The meteorologist's path of the storm was used by PAMA and now it was expected to go to Taiwan and later hit China. Non-Typhoon Warning and Typhoon Watch was in effect for Taiwan and Non-Typhoon Watch was in for Batanes, Philippines. As it went through Taiwan, due to the mountains of Taiwan, the storm immediately weakened into a Tropical Storm. As it later dissipated in China. Rescurers of Taiwan discovered 396 dead due to the typhoon but it increased due to the later floods and 302 was found missing. USA gave $300 million to Taiwan for recovery and PAMA also gave $150 million for Taipei. The reason why 718 died is because while the storm, there was no ladders to the roofs and they had no access to the top of the house so all of the occupants of a one story house dies.
Super Typhoon Wukong (Ferdie)[]
August 2 - August 9
Description of Ferdie[]
Super Typhoon Wukong was the strongest storm in 2024 and fatally changing the course of the Philippines as it sunk several islands and made new islands. There was 10,000 deaths making it second deadliest in the Philippines and the most costliest in the world with $10 billion damages.
History of Ferdie[]
An unusual low pressure area with 992 mbars formed. PAMA discovered this and shortly after it became a EXD (extratropical depression). The next day it started to form an eye as a tropical storm which was impossible at the time. It started exploding intesification as a day later it reached category 5 status. Wukong was ready to hit Philippines as while pretty far away. Typhoon Watch was added. 6 hours later Typhoon Warning took place as residents evac'd away from its path. Philippines suffered major damage, as some of the islands of the Philipines sunk and made new islands like "Bicol Island". While on the sea, it strengthened into a 195 mph category 5 again and it hit Vietnam. A day after that, It became extratropical and dissipating out east of Myanmar. President "Bongbong" Marcos looks at the damage after the storm and said "Philippines will recover again." as the sun set.
