The 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season was an unusual, yet above normal hurricane season in which all the storms formed in either the Caribbean sea, or the Gulf of Mexico. This was due to unusually high wind shear and Saharan air levels in the open Atlantic ocean, which prevented the development of all but one tropical wave, which would become Hurricane Gabrielle. Almost all of the storms formed from lows moving off south america, or from areas of low pressure.
