The season officially began on June 1, 2024, and ended on November 30, 2024. These dates historically describe the period each year when most tropical cyclones form in the Atlantic basin. The first system of the season, Alberto, formed on April 22, several weeks prior to the start of the season. while the final storm of the season, Isaac, dissipated on November 28, just days before the end of the season. This season was the second of four below average to average seasons to occur in a row. This season was the most inactive since 2014.
