The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season was a below average hurricane season that produced approximately 9 named storms, with 6 of them becoming hurricanes, and 3 of them becoming major hurricanes. The season officially began on June 1, 2024, and ended on November 30, 2024. These dates historically describe the period each year when most tropical cyclones form in the Atlantic basin. The first system of the season, Alberto, formed on April 22, several weeks prior to the start of the season. while the final storm of the season, Isaac, dissipated on November 28, just days before the end of the season. This season was the second of four below average to average seasons to occur in a row. This season was the most inactive since 2014.

DurationApril 22 ā€“ April 27
Peak intensity95 mph (155 km/h) (1-min) 984 mbar (hPa)

Early on April 21, the NHC began monitoring an area of convection classified as a low pressure system located a couple hundred miles west of the Lesser Antilles. Over the next 24 hours, the system organized gradually and showed high sings of development. at 12:00 UTC on April 22, recon planes found a center of circulation and the disturbance was designated as Tropical Depression One. The depression had began curving northwestwards, and was about to enter an area of extremely low wind shear, signifying intensification. Early on April 23, the depressions strengthen and became Tropical Storm Alberto. Once the storm's intensity was upgraded, tropical storm warnings were issued for the Dominican Republic. Alberto then curved northwards and made landfall in the Dominican Republic later on April 23 with winds of around 45 mph.
