The 2020 Pacific hurricane season was an above average season that produced approximately 18 named storms, with 11 of them becoming hurricanes, and 5 of them becoming major hurricanes. The season officially began on May 15, 2020, and ended on November 30, 2020. These dates historically describe the period each year when most tropical cyclones form in the East Pacific basin. The first system of the season, Amanda, formed on May 14, just prior to the official start of the hurricane season. while the final storm of the season, Rachel, dissipated on December 9, a few days after the end of the season.
Early on May 13, the NHC began to monitor an off-season disturbance located a couple hundred miles off the coast of Mexico. over the next 36 hours, the disturbance slowly organized and showed signs of development. On May 14, recon planes found a center of circulation and the disturbance was designated as Tropical Depression One-E.
The following names were used for named storms that formed in the northeastern Pacific ocean in 2020. The names not retired from this list were used again in the 2026 season. This is the same list used for the 2014 season, with the exceptions of Odalys, which replaced Odile. Names that were not assigned are marked in gray.
