A tropical depression was reported by the NHC on August 29th at 5 PM. It was reported that it had formed near the British Virgin Islands. After moving north, it slowly upgraded to a tropical storm earning the name Floyd as it was the 6th named storm of the 2019 season. It made a slight turn and began traveling west at 12 MPH. In the process of doing this, Tropical Storm Floyd was upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane. On August 31st, NHC reported that Floyd had made landfall in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Upon making landfall, Floyd upgraded to a Category 2 hurricane. A total of 32 deaths had occurred and $789 dollars in damage had been done. Most of the deaths we're tourist. 10 of the deaths we're from a shuttle bus that flipped over from the high winds and fell off of a 456 foot high cliff. 2 of those passengers we're kids. Many of the cruises around Turks and Caicos we're damaged by flying debris and many passengers we're injured from things flying around on the decks. Hurricane Floyd made landfall in other small islands but quickly passed as the speed of the hurricane increased to 16 MPH. No deaths had been reported from these islands and only $70,000 was done in damage. Hurricane Floyd upgraded to a Category 3 while traveling near the Bahamas. Hurricane Floyd made landfall again in Nassau. 57 deaths had been reported and over 120 were injured. $3 billion in damage had been done in this landfall. During this landfall, Miami was beginning to fell the effects of the outer bands of Floyd. Miami experienced cloudy weather and light rain. Floyd continued to move north teasing the eastern coast of Florida with its outer bands. Hurricane Floyd made landfall for the last time in Charleston, South Carolina. 1,345 deaths were reported and $6.3 billion in damage had been done. over 6,000 people were Injured. Floyd slowed down it's movement to 8 MPH. Like Florence,(see article for FLORENCE 2018 season) Floyd caused lots of flooding because of its slow movement. It was reported that Charleston was flooded by 17 feet of water. Still moving north, Floyd downgraded to a Category 2 as it moved further inland. Ironically, Floyd downgraded to a Category 1 over the city of Florence in South Carolina. Floyd continued to rain down on South Carolina before weakening to a tropical storm near the border of South Carolina and North Carolina. After quickly downgrading to a tropical depression, Floyd was eaten up by a cold front over Fayetteville,
