Hurricane Gamma, also known as the 2176 "Ultra-hurricane" was the strongest and longest living hurricane in Atlantic history, sustaining 387 Mile per hour winds for 30 seconds.

It is also the fastest forming category 5 hurricane, Going from Tropical Depression 29 to Category 1 in 37 minutes. It formed in the Gulf of Mexico at 1:27 AM EST, turning into a Category 5 in 3 hours.

It was also the first man made hurricane in history. And, it had the smallest size to damage ratio, being only 100 miles wide.

Meteorological history[]

On August 18, the NHC noticed a very low-pressure area in the Gulf of Mexico, stating it could be dangerous, possibly colliding with Hurricane Isaias (2176). That system dissipated 2 minutes before Hurricane Gamma came though.

The NHC issued a hurricane warning to all states 1,000 miles within the gulf.

At 7 AM on August 19, it made landfall in Texas as a category 5 with 367 MPH winds, killing 8000 people.

It traveled at 70 MPH and was gone in 15 minutes.

It went back over to the east coast and went at 3 MPH towards Florida, and halfway there, over the gulf, it broke the record for highest winds over the ocean, at a whopping 391 MPH for 3 seconds.

It made landfall in Florida at 8:30 AM on September 1, 2176. It sped up to 98 MPH and passed within 7 minutes. It sustained winds of 300 MPH and was so big people in New York City experienced Tornados and severe thunderstorms. It killed 983 people on that pass.

It went into Africa and killed 900 more people in Ghana, where it dissipated.

Impact[]

Texas[]

In Texas, 8000 people were killed and 1,798,294 homes were destroyed, roughly 95%.

Due to this, 86 insurance companies went out of business and over 4,598 buildings were destroyed.

NASA concluded that the hurricane was manmade by a group of terrorists, who were found and killed. 100,000 people also died from hunger and starvation.

Florida[]

In Florida, roughly 1000 people died, 100,000 homes were destroyed.

In Florida alone, the hurricane cost 200 billon dollars, the most costly hurricane for a single state. Many people also lost businesses and 20,000 people died from hunger and thirst. It was not included in the death toll of the hurricane

Guatamela[]

In Guatamela, Hurricane (category 1) force winds were felt and 1 person died, but alot of other people lost homes and were injured.

3,000 deaths occoured from hunger and starvation.

Louisiana[]

No one died and because of the small hurricane size, no one really felt anything. Tornadoes and heavy rain were delivered due to the hurricane effects being worn off.

Ghana[]

A whopping 30,000 people died and 100,000 more died of starvation and thirst, making it the deadliest hurricane in history.

Nana Akufo-Addo used relief funds and reimbursed familys, making it the costliest hurricane in history.
