Hurricane Idol Winter/Spring 2020 (XVI)

Season 16 of Hypothetical Hurricanes Wiki's Hurricane Idol will begin on March 1, 2020.

How does Hurricane Idol work?

In Hurricane Idol, names that have or will be used to name hurricanes are put into a contest based on what the judges and the other users of Hypothetical Hurricanes Wiki decide. However, since Season 9, names which have not been used to name tropical cyclones have been submitted. Once the contest is complete, the last name that stands out will be crowned the winner of the contest and the most popular hurricane name of the year.

Blocked users will have their names disqualified, but will be able to participate in future seasons if the user is unblocked. If you are blocked while the name submissions are ongoing, the user will be automatically eliminated and their names disqualified.
Users must compete in one account only. If you try to participate in Hurricane Idol with alternate accounts or sockpuppets, you will get your names disqualified, and you may be removed from your position if you are a designer, moderator, judge, head judge, co-host, or host. You may also be excluded from participating in future seasons of Hurricane Idol.

The Panel of Hosts/Judges

Hypercane - (Host)
An active user since May 2013, Hypercane is a bureaucrat and administrator on Hypothetical Hurricanes Wiki who first participated in Hurricane Idol Season 3 as a judge and later a host of Season 6, along with co-hosting Season 10 with StrawberryMaster. Being very interested in tropical cyclones along with enjoying hypothetical articles about them he is very excited to host his last season of Hurricane Idol and hopes that everyone has fun!
Sassmaster15 - (Co-Host)
Sassmaster has served the Hypothetical Hurricanes Wiki in a variety of roles since 2015. As a former bureaucrat and current chat moderator, Sass helps oversee the day-to-day affairs of the wiki's Discord server and ensures all users are enjoying their time on the wiki. He previously served as a Hurricane Idol judge in both Season 9 and 15, and looks forward to co-hosting Season 16 with long-time friend Hypercane!
Farm River - (Head Judge)
Farm River is a current bureaucrat of this wiki, and is an extremely active editor since 2016, reaching over 20,000 edits. As a current bureaucrat of HHW, he usually manages the wiki's internal affairs and monitors the wiki when most of the users are asleep as Farm lives in a different timezone. Farm is a longtime participant of this biannual event, participating since Season 11. He served as a judge in Season 12, hosted Season 13, served as a judge in Season 14, and served as a moderator in Season 15. This season, he is delighted to serve, this time, as a head judge. May the best name win!
WeatherWill - (Judge)
WeatherWill has been an active editor since September 2018 and has served as a staff member since December 2018. He is currently a junior administrator who helps keep chat and the wiki in check. Will has participated in two Hurricane Idol events prior to this current season. He was notably a moderator in Season 15 and now a judge for Season 16. He is excited to judge for the first time!
StrawberryMaster - (Judge)
StrawberryMaster has been on the Hypothetical Hurricanes Wiki since September 2015, and has participated on a variety of Hurricane Idol seasons since then, and most notably was the host of Season 10 and co-host of seasons 9, 12, and 15. As a bureaucrat, SM has the job of moderating the chat while also moderating and updating the wiki code. He is excited to judge once again and wishes every participant the best of luck!
Cooper - (Judge)
Cooper has been a member of the Hypothetical Hurricanes Wiki since July 2017 and has served as a Wiki administrator since March 2018. He has participated in Hurricane Idol since its eleventh season in 2017, serving as a judge in Season 13, co-hosting Season 14, and hosting Season 15. He is honored to return for this sixteenth season of Hurricane Idol as a judge, and wishes every participant the best of fortune. Let the best name win!
Money Hurricane - (Judge)
Money Hurricane is a former administration member of HHW for over two years. He has participated in many HI seasons, and hosted Season 12. He introduced the fresh, new formatting of HI pages you see in Season 12, and the design remains in use to this day. He is happy to be back on the judging panel for a sixth and final time for Season 16. Good luck to everyone, you'll need it!
