In Hurricane Idol, names that have or will be used to name hurricanes are put into a contest based on what the judges and the other users of Hypothetical Hurricanes Wiki decide. However, since Season 9, names that have not been used to name tropical cyclones have been submitted. Once the contest is complete, the last name that stands out will be crowned the winner of the contest and the most popular hurricane name of the year.
Blocked users will have their names disqualified, but will be able to participate in future seasons if the user is unblocked. If you are blocked while the name submissions are ongoing, the user will be automatically eliminated and their names disqualified.
Users must compete in one account only. If you try to participate in Hurricane Idol with alternate accounts or sockpuppets, you will get your names disqualified, and you may be removed from your position if you are a designer, moderator, judge, head judge, co-host, or host. You may also be excluded from participating in future seasons of Hurricane Idol.
The name submissions period will start on August 27 and end on September 2. The names can be submitted on this page's comment section, the forum post or on the official Hurricane Idol Discord server. Names submitted after this date will not be accepted.

Sandy is a junior administrator in HHW since last July and has been in the wiki January 2019. In Hurricane Idol, he has previous experience as a co-host in Season 18 and 22 and previously served as a judge in Seasons 17 and 19. He is excited to be the host for the first time this season, and wishes the best of luck to the participants this season!
Fabian is an active member who has been part of the community since November 2020. He served HHW as a Chat Moderator in 2022 and 2023. He was a judge in Season 21, Head-judge in Season 22, and now Co-Host in Season 23. He is grateful to be the co-host for this season. He wishes best of luck to all participants this season!!
Lucarius is an active member of the HHW since April 2018, as well as a Junior Administrator since April 2023. He has plenty of judging experience; having been one in Seasons 15, 17 and 20-21, as well as a head judge in Season 18. Excited for the season, he wishes all participants the best of luck!
Oil is a chat moderator and has been a member of the wiki since April 2022, and he has previously served as a designer in Season 21. He also served as a judge in Season 22, and is excited to return as one for this upcoming season. He wishes the best of luck to all of the participants and their names in this season!
Alex (they/she) has been a member of HHW since October 2017 and is the wiki's former leader. They hosted Season 20, judged on Seasons 21 and 22, and was a moderator of Season 19. They are excited to return as a judge this season and wishes good luck to everyone participating!
Cade is a chat moderator and has been a member of the wiki for just over a year now, joining the wiki in August 2022. He participated in Season 21 and Season 22 as a public voter and participant. This is Cade's first season as a judge, and he is very excited for the upcoming season. Cade wishes good luck to all of the participants and their names this season, and may the best name win!
HurricaneLucas4064 is currently a nearly two-year administrator on the wiki. Previously serving as host in Season 21, he is glad to return as a judge for this upcoming season. He wishes the best of luck to all participants and hopes for a very successful and fun Season 23!
We made it to the end, finally. With all 155 names being judged, one has come out on top, and that name is Isaac. Congrats to Dynah, who submitted the name, for winning this season's Hurricane Idol! Also, props to Farm and SM for coming second and third, respectively!
Huge thanks to everyone who participated this season, without y'all it wouldn't feel as lively. Being host for the first time in Hurricane Idol after co-hosting twice, I've had my ups and downs throughout, including some delays along the way (I apologize in part of hiring lazy designers, hopefully it will get resolved in the next season). But, I've got past these barriers and everything remained good for this season. I would like to give a big thanks to my co-host, Fabian, for running the season along with me and filling in for me when I'm in absence. Along with that, big thanks to all of the judges (Lucarius, Alex, Cade, Lucas, Oil) for organizing and quickly eliminating names so that we can release the rounds on time. I've had a fun time hosting this Hurricane Idol, and I hope everybody had fun as well. Alas, in February, applications for host will begin in about 3 months and another season of Hurricane Idol will start again in March; I really hope it will be great!
