Good evening, HHW. I hope you're all doing well. Today I am doing something quite unexpected - even I still consider this a little surprising, but after careful consideration and recent events, I believe it's time. I am requesting Chat Moderator for the first time in history on this site. The first reason I believe I am fit for this position is my past tenure as bureaucrat. I initially served HHW in an administrative role from January 2016 to March 2017. Many of the skills I cultivated and lessons I learned from holding this special position I still retain and apply to this day. I have since learned that it is the responsibility of leaders to be a model/set a precedent for appropriate behavior for their community, and not what they think is best based on personal preference. As a bureaucrat, I often fought rules I disagreed with, despite a majority favoring their implementation. This was wrong of me. Now, in practice on other servers, I am a strong interpreter of and enforcer of the rules exactly as written. I have also since tried to adopt a more calm and fair persona. As a HHW bureaucrat, I was very much a hot-head who was very invested in myself and uninterested and impatient with the affairs of others. In my new administrative ventures, I use my experience and past as wisdom and handle complicated, stressful situations with a level head and patient demeanor. It is in these ways that I believe I have grown since my initial tenure as HHW staff, and that my wealth of experience is still applicable today, as I have not forgotten many of the methods and components of being part of such a significant administration.

Secondly, I have garnered a wealth of additional experience since first parting ways with HHW. Not only have I served other wikis/servers in staff roles (such as Meteorology and More, Storm Central, Unbound Reality, and Kingdom Hearts, among others), I also had the honor of succeeding the original owner of Tropical Trackers as its current leader. Since taking over the server, TT has grown to more than 230 members and is still rapidly growing, expanded to various other platforms such as social media and blogging, and gained a notable reputation in the meteorological community. Due to Tropical Trackers, I also had the privilege to meet a variety of new people beyond FANDOM and establish strong connections with them. I can help bring these connections to HHW to further establish and solidify its reputation and help outsiders see favor in the site, overturning its past controversy. I feel that my connections, in addition to the HHW members that serve as staff there, see the strength, determination, and level of ability in my leadership skills and would be able to provide me a solid recommendation for positions elsewhere. In addition to my online work, I received management positions at two different restaurants - Dairy Queen and Five Guys - and these are a big deal. I feel that, if I can be entrusted to single-handedly run a business by myself for a designated period of time, I can for sure be trusted to help facilitate the chat on HHW.

Third, I would like to address my lack of autopatroller rights. I am aware that no exceptions can be granted in order to request rights in this case, and if that's the one thing that holds me back, then so be it. But I would like to point out that I have edited consistently since my return in July of this year, and attempted to balance my edits both on the mainspace and on the forums. And while I acknowledge that I have edited mainly on the forums as of late, it does not mean I have ceased editing on the mainspace completely. I also feel that, given that I am a former bureaucrat, I am a trustworthy and reliable editor, as I only had one instance of edit-farming (which we are all pretty aware of...). However, given that chat moderator is a chat-oriented position, I feel that I am suited to earn the role. Unlike a lot of administration members, I don't really avoid #chat as much, and am able to relate the current generation of users well. I feel they are receptive to me, and that's really all a moderator needs to possess, right? I also feel that I am very altruistic towards users, as I will go to the ends of the Earth to help a user out with a stressful situation in their personal life (as exemplified with Finn and Hype). In addition, many are aware of my style of moderation, which is more no-nonsense and strict than most, and that's something I feel is lacking in terms of rule enforcement nowadays. I am very to the point and don't play games, but also like to give users every possible effort to prove themselves innocent in a serious situation, which is a decent split between being firm and professional when need be, but also someone who isn't overly-bearing and "mad with power."

Lastly, and I'm going to be straight-up honest with this one, I just really miss working with my fellow colleagues. As of late, I really have been missing the good times we had back in 2016/2017, and I have overall enjoyed my unretirement and don't plan to return to a retired state anytime soon. In addition, at least from what I've heard from administration members, a good portion of them have considered re-promoting me as well. I promise I will serve HHW well once more just like I used to. I have tendencies to get wrapped up in drama, but as shown from recent events, it is inevitable and happens to the best of us. If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to ask me on the HHW Discord or in a private conversation. I am open to any feedback and critiques the HHW community may have for me. Thanks for reading! Sassmaster15 (talk) 03:16, November 8, 2019 (UTC)

  • Symbol neutral vote Neutral — Hello Sassmaster. It is indeed quite a surprise to see you submitting a formal application for the status of chat moderator, and I suppose I should have expected to see a long and well-written application. There are a handful of factors which put me in support of this request, but there are also a handful of factors which put me in opposition. Allow me to explain. Beginning with supporting factors, you are one of the most experienced members here, both inside and outside of the Wiki. I believe your experience would make you very efficient as an administration member and I would greatly enjoy having you back. You have been consistently active since your return in July and have demonstrated effectiveness on other servers in addition to your previous service here as a bureaucrat. Of the factors which put me in opposition of this request, I will first mention, as you have stated, your lack of autopatroller rights. As I'm sure you know, we've always seen this as a prerequisite for obtaining further rights. However, I think that you are currently suitable for autopatroller status, and that would not be too significant of a problem. My other, and more significant reason for opposing this request is that I feel you have sometimes handled situations improperly. While I know you to be very capable and, to my knowledge, have done very well managing other servers, you have, on some occasions, acted improperly on situations. It is difficult for me to say this, as, as I have previously stated, I view you as being very capable and responsible, but I more or less speak on the observations of other members in this case. Based on the above factors, I have opted to take a neutral stance on your request. While I believe that you would do quite well as a moderator, I do have my above- mentioned concerns which prevent me from completely supporting this request. However, I do wish you the best of luck in your request and look forward to working with you in the future, regardless of your status here.

  • Symbol arrow up Neutral, leaning support — I don't have much time here, so I'll keep it short. Sass, although many of the reasons Cooper has stated do concern me, such as your lack of AP rights (I don't exactly see a reason why you don't quite have AP rights yet. If this proposal does not pass, I believe they would suit you.) and on occasion I have seen you to handle situations in a more or less improper way. I have taken these into consideration, however considering your experience and activity here, especially your status as a former bureaucrat, I will nonetheless vote NLS. Good luck! {contribs) TropicalStormChapsteck {talkpage) NHCTSSymbol.png 04:56, November 8, 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol support vote Support — Sass is a fine former bureaucrat so I will support this as I believe in giving second chances for the most part. Also the lack of autopatrolled rights in this instance does not really influence my decision to support this time. I know Sass can act rash on things but don't we all from time to time? We're human we make mistakes. Sass has my support on this request. 19px-Signature_Icon.png Hypercane (talk) 12:54, November 8, 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol oppose vote Oppose — While I would support this request in normal circumstances based on your previous experience here, there are some things which keep me from supporting it. They are:
  1. You fail to meet the requirements listed above: you would need to be autopatrolled to make a request here, and very few rightless users have succeeded in their requests.
  2. It doesn't seem you'll receive AP rights for now: some users have been saying that you are more qualified to be AP at this rate, and I would agree, but as you stated, most of your edits have been on the Forums recently. While chat moderators would be more active in the chat, they still need consistent wiki activity - in the mainspace, not on the Forums. Seeing that it has been over three weeks since your last mainspace edit, I am not sure how this will go as we generally use the wiki activity to see view the user's activity in general.
  3. Perhaps now is not the time: you've always spoken about doing a request in December (perhaps expecting you would be AP by then?) and so making one early, especially with the recent drama we've been having recently, is rather unusual.
I certainly miss your presence in the administration, and others too, but ultimately rules are rules and I cannot change that just to support you. Best of luck!

  • Symbol arrow up Neutral, leaning support — You have a lot of experience, and have proven yourself to be a great administration member in the past. However, I have a couple small concerns, such as the way you have left the wiki multiple times, and your recent attempt to shut down the Mediterranean Cyclone Centre (run by some HHW users), which clearly said on their twitter page that they were unofficial. I do not see your lack of autopatroller rights as a big issue in this case since you have been bureaucrat before. Good luck on your request! ~ Bobnekaro PageWallEdits 16:28, November 8, 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol arrow up Neutral, leaning support — I was originally going to vote Oppose, as you didn't meet the Autopatrolled requirement listed at the top of the page, but after thinking it over, I've decided to give you a neutral leaning support. I see that you have some essential in-real-life experience as well as having been a former bureaucrat. I would vote full support, had you had Autopatrolled rights at the time of your request, and I can't overlook that completely. However, all in all, I see good potential in you as a moderator. The concerns I currently have are your relative inactivity on editing the wiki, as well as your occasional tendency to be angry in the chat. I would also like to see slightly more activity on chat in normal circumstances, but I understand that you also lead a full job in real life and that you might not have as much free time as other users. Overall, I trust that you'll work on the concerns I have, and will likely be an effective moderator.

All things considered, I think you deserve the Moderator position, and I wish you luck in your request! LckyTUBA (talk) 20:42, November 8, 2019 (UTC)LckyTUBA
  • Symbol support vote Support — From experience on other servers, I know that you are a great administrator or moderator. You strictly enforce the rules, perhaps more strictly so than many of the current staff. Certainly more strictly than me. You would make a great chat moderator on that regard. While as Strawberry Master said, you have been editing more on the forums recently, a chat moderator moderates the chat, and I do not think you're not active enough in it to be a moderator. As for you not being AP yet, it's not a big obstacle from my perspective, since you are effectively trusted by the administration, and were a bureaucrat in the past. Those two factors essentially make the AP box checked. My only slight issue is that you have been rather silly regarding the Medicane Center which I am a part of, though contrary to what Tuba has said above, you did not threaten HHW directly, which makes this your personal issue. Anyways, good luck with your request! GiedriusforCat5 AKA Toothless 20:54 08-11-2019
  • Symbol arrow up Neutral, leaning support — I'm voting NLS for a reason. The fact that you are literally a real-life manager at a real job is really great and influencing a lot of my decision. Yes, there a couple red flags, such as trying to expose Medicane Center by saying it's run by HHW and the fact that you aren't AP, which are the main reasons why I'm not voting full-out support. But still, from what I've seen, you are a good person and would make a good Chat Moderator. - Dez.
  • Symbol arrow up Neutral, leaning support — Despite our recent scuffles, I think Sass is very worthy of this position. He's had years of experience, and I think he would be a great re-addition to the team. My only concern is possible aggressive outbreaks, but I have faith in Sass that he can do his best. Best of luck. MASTERGARFIELD 19:06, November 8, 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol arrow up Neutral, leaning support — Very surprising to see you request for rights here but nonetheless I am going with NLS on this. I do not question your ability to moderate chat (among other things a moderator should have), however you lack AP rights at current which is a big thing in this process. I also note your hiatus (which I am now unclear on due to said request). However, because I know that you are very qualified to moderate chat and am willing to let those things go when considering this due to this fact. Best of luck! Lucarius November 8, 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol support vote Support — Definitely surprising to see that you have already requested for rights here instead of later like in December, but I'm going with support here. I know that you're a great moderator, even though there have been some times where I questioned your ability to be a moderator. Regardless, I feel like you're very qualified for this position, even though you don't have AP rights. I wish you the best of luck Sass! - HH November 8, 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol support vote Support — Sass I think having you back on the staff team would be a great accomplishment, as during your previous tenure you did show a good example of being a good role model of staff. The only concern on my part is possible outbursts as some of the others have said, however I'm hopeful these have been resolved and you can show improvement once again. Plus, as Hype has said, even though you don’t have AP rights right now doesn’t change my stance on it. --MarioProtIV (talk) 19:35, November 8, 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol support vote Support — I am voting in support of Sass since I have seen how excellent he has done administration-wise on other servers and wikis. In addition, Sass knows the rules the great admin team has for the wiki and the server. While Sass lacks AP rights, I don't see that as an issue since he is a former bureaucrat. Best of luck Sass! - Hitman 19:42, November 8, 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol arrow up Neutral, leaning support — I am mostly indifferent, but I think we need more chat mods. - TheFlyTeen 19:54, November 8, 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol support vote Support — I'm going to support this request. I believe that Sass has more than sufficient previous administration experience, both in real life and online positions. I do not find you not being autopatrolled a significant detriment, because, as said before, you already have administration experience and know your way around HHW. One reservation I have relates to the Medicane Center argument that occurred not too long ago, but this has already been discussed in previous votes. I feel like your comments about "letting people know the truth," despite the fact that the center largely advertises themselves as unofficial and made up of amateur meteorologists, were quite odd. Otherwise, I think you're a very good CM candidate, and good luck! GaryKJR (talk) 19:59, November 8, 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol neutral vote Neutral — I am neutral on this request. Although you do have plenty of previous qualifications from other communities and HHW itself, and we could use another moderator, but I'm a bit skeptical of how you would handle some things that occur on the HHW Discord. For one, the environment that the current moderator team has to deal with is considerably different from the environment of 2016. Rules have come and gone, but in general, more restrictions are present today than back then. The chat can also be considerably more hectic than it was back then, with multiple discussions occurring at the same time and some users, well, getting a bit crazy. Also, you do have somewhat of a reputation of being hotheaded on certain issues, such as when you stated that you were going on "crusade against fake news," and saying you'll do anything in your power to get the MCC account shut down. This is not something that will be accepted from a moderator. However, I am willing to be proven wrong on my points, so that is why I am voting neutral and not oppose. Best of luck. Money Hurricane (talk) 20:32, November 8, 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol oppose vote Oppose — As much as I would like to have you as a mod, I can not support this request. You have yet to received autopatrolled rights, and I would find it unfair to other users - especially autopatrolled users - if a user that is not an autopatroller gets promoted to mod. Yes you have been a staff before, yes you were a bureaucrat before, but that was in the past, and since you are currently a regualr user, you will have to follow the order of ranks as a majority of staff had done.

I would also like to point out that recently, you have threatened to shut down the MCC - an account ran by several HHW users. The users of MCC has explicity stated they are unofficial yet you call the MCC - ad indirectly the HHW users that runs it - "fake news" and that seems to me that you havr attacked these HHW users. Any staff members (and all users in general) shouldn't attack each other, as that violates civility and respectfulness.

In short, I'm sorry but I can not support this request. However, I could support you as an autopatrolled user at this time. Good luck on your RfCM!  ~ Roy25   Talk | Contributions   21:03, November 08, 2019 (UTC)

  • Symbol neutral vote Neutral — Although you have proved us to be a very experienced leader as you have a previous experience as a bureaucrat, I'm going to vote neutral in this request. The main reason I'm neutral is because one of the requirements that a user needs for you to be a moderator is to become autopatrolled first, in which you are not yet so far. Your last mainspace edit happened weeks ago as SM stated, although not the most needed factor, but it is still important to balance your forum and mainspace activity. Sometimes, you may handle some things improperly, and usually if you get aggressive, you may commit unnecessary things. Another concern is your attempt to take down the Medicane Cyclone Centre even though it is stated that it is unofficial and not regarded as such. However, you have your advantages that you had a previous experience in this wiki as a bureaucrat, and you already know how this wiki works very well. You are also the owner of Tropical Trackers, which really stabilized and grew after you lead it. It is a also a good thing to hear that you interact with #chat more, as most administration members chat less than you do there. I often view you as a responsible and strong leader as you have successfully lead a historically drama-torn server to a more stable, orderly server (Tropical Trackers). Anyways, I believe you can do a good job as a chat moderator, but those factors are keeping me from fully supporting you. Remember that this wiki is different from 2016. Best of luck. -- FARMBLAH (talk) 19:59, November 8, 2019 (UTC)
