Tropical Storm Emily was a moderate tropical storm that caused moderate damage across the Caribbean, and southern United States. It formed on July 21, 2017, from a well-organized tropical wave. It developed into a 50 mph tropical storm, and hit the Yucatan Peninsula at this intensity. It weakened over land, but re-intensified slightly to 45 mph, and struck Texas, before dissipating inland. Tropical Storm Emily was the earliest fifth-named storm in the Atlantic since Hurricane Emily in 2005.
